Band Manager
Brian McCutcheon received his piping instruction first in 1991 and
then again in 1992 (after being shamed into returning to the band)
from Jim Ryan and has been with American Celtic ever since, fulfilling
numerous roles in the band. In addition to piping, ‘Cutch’ contributed
to the competition efforts in the 90’s as the Bass Drummer as the band
progressed from grade V to grade IV. He often relates the story of his
first competition at the Colonial Highland Gathering in Fair Hill, Md
(“Hey, that’s Scott Walker”), where tragedy was narrowly averted when
he almost tripped entering the ring in the high grass on the horse
track. Now a stalwart in the piping ranks, Cutch plays a set of 1993
Kilgour-Kron bagpipes, and provides a running stream of unsolicited
opinions and wisecracks. Cutch took over as Band Manager in 2002. He is
responsible for contracting and scheduling the various performances in
which the band appears.
He lives in Farmingdale with his wife, Christine and their
children, Victoria and Liam. |
