James Keenan
Bagpiper

James began learning pipes in January of 2005 under the instruction of Scott Gajdos and has truly found a love for the instrument. He has quickly moved up the ranks to become a front row piper in the band.

His favorite moment with the band would have to be marching in the NYC St. Patrick's Day parade for the first time. In 2007, James took second place in the 2/4 March event at the CLASP (Competition League for Amateur Solo Pipers) in just his second time competing in individual competition!

James plays a set of David Naill bagpipes. His favorite pipe bands are Field Marshal Montgomery of Northern Ireland and Simon Frazer University of British Columbia, Canada.

James is currently a fifth grade teacher in the Merrick School District. On top of playing pipes, James is also an accomplished violinist, having performed at the legendary Carnegie Hall in New York City. If two instruments weren't enough, he also plays guitar. Outside of music James enjoys skiing, hiking, golfing and solving sudoku puzzles.
