February 1, 2011 - ACPB Announces it's new competition
pipe major, James Elliot
James Elliot has been elevated to the role of Pipe Major of the Grade
V competition band for the 2011 contest season. He performed this role
at our final contest of 2010, leading the band to a 4th place finish at
the Nassau Feis. With guidance from instructor Scott Gajdos and Pipe
Major Marty Rowe, James has the support he'll need to bring the group
through a successful 2011 season. Good luck James!
December 13, 2010 - Mike Cronin, Jr. get upgraded to
Grade 3 Snare
Congratulations to Mike Cronin, Jr. on his upgrade from Grave IV Sr.
snare to Grade III snare based on his solo performances from 2010! For

October 18, 2010 - ACPB places 44th overall in the 2010
EUSPBA standings!
Your friends at the American Celtic Pipe Band pulled out points once
again at the final competition of the year. With a sixth place finish at
Nassau, the band earned 4 points and ended the 2010 contest season in
44th place out of 115 bands in the EUSPBA Grade 5. The band also had
some solo performers in 2010, with the following results:
- Mike Cronin Jr., Grade IV Sr. Snare - 2 points in 2 competitions
- EUSPBA - 14th Place Overall (69 competitors)
- Metro Branch - 2nd Place Overall
- Pat Ryan, Grade III Bagpiping - 9 points in 2 competitions
- EUSPBA - 117th Place Overall (316 competitors)
- Metro Branch - 13th Place Overall
- Mike placed first at the Nassau Feis, receiving an AGL from
Judge Donald Bell
- Pat placed 4th in the Strathspey/Reel at Rockland
Also, James Elliot and Bill Meehan competed one time this year at the
Nassau Feis. It was Bill's first time entering the solo arena.
November 30, 2009 - ACPB places 41st overall in the 2009
EUSPBA standings
With a fourth place finish at the final contest of the
year, the American Celtic Pipe Band concluded the 2009
contest season in 41st place out of 113 bands in the EUSPBA
Grade 5. The band participated in only 3 contests in 2009,
and were pleased to end the year on a high (A) note.
Year end rankings for our soloists were as follows:
- Jodi Ryan - Tenor Novice - FIRST PLACE out of 42 tenor
drummers (4 points, 2 competitions)
- James Elliott - Grade 4 Junior Bagpiping - 100th place
out of 218 pipers (3 points, 1 competition)
- Thomas Ryan - Grade 4 Senior Bagpiping - 68th place out
of 782 pipers (42 points, 7 competitions)
- Pat Ryan - Grade 3 Bagpiping - 97th place out of 288
pipers (20 points, 3 competitions)

Scott Gajdos
takes his act overseas
Our former
piping instructor Scott Gajdos took off for Ireland in May. You
can keep up with Scott's life overseas by visiting his Blog at
http://newyorkscott.blogspot.com. Scott played a huge role
in the growth and development of the American Celtic Pipe Band's
pipe corps over the past 3 years, and we wish him well.
March 31, 2008 -- Great end to a successful St. Patrick's
Day parade season
The band concluded its final St. Patrick's Day parade at
Montauk on March 30th with a strong finish in what was a very
successful season. The band fielded its biggest band ever
at the New York City parade with no less than 18 pipers and
10 drummers. The Memorial Day parade in Lindenhurst will be
the next gig for the band.
March 3, 2008 -- Six new members begin their first St.
Patrick's Day parade season
The 2008 St. Patrick's Day parade season opened on March
2 with new members of both the pipe section and drum corps.
Marching for the first time were Chris Bowles, Doris Jelinek,
Tom McCarthy and Caitlin Waring in the pipe section and Walt
Francis and Brendan Whelan in the drum corps.
May 28, 2007 -- New additions to the ranks at the Memorial
Day Parade
The Lindenhurst Memorial Day Parade featured three new marchers
with the American Celtic Pipe Band. Donna Elliott marched
in her first parade as a member of the pipe corps, and Connor
Frances and Caitlin Waring joined the color guard. Congratulations
to all!
February 24, 2007 -- James Keenan places 2nd in grade
IV of the CLASP
Piper James Keenan took home 2nd place in the grade IV 2/4
march at the New York CLASP contest held in Babylon, NY. The
CLASP is run by the National
Piping Centre and stands for Competition League for Amateur
Solo Pipers.
February 9, 2007 -- American Celtic names a new Drum Sergeant
Julie O'Callaghan has been named the new Drum Sergeant for
the American Celtic Pipe Band, effective Wednesday, February
7, 2007. Julie will lead a young drum corps into a bright
future.
January 25, 2007 -- Honoring the Fighting 69th with "Heroes
Fallen"
We'll be honoring the Fighting 69th during our 2007 St. Patrick's
Day Parade season by playing a tune written by Frank Riggio,
"Heroes Fallen." This 5/4 march was written in memory
of those members of the 69th who have given the ultimate sacrifice.
We're honored to remember these heroes and march down 5th
Avenue with the regiment.
